Convicted child rapist escapes after being freed to attend “fake” family funeral
February 8, 2016
Choudry Ikhalaq Hussain had told the police that he wanted to attend the funeral of a dead relative in Birmingham, and he was given a day off from his trial.
But the 38-year-old has not returned to court since then.
Police believe he fled the country and may now be in Pakistan.
Hussain, a delivery driver, was convicted of rape, sexual activity with a child and conspiracy to rape in November, 2015.
“We believe he may be in Pakistan but we are still determined to find him and ensure that he is held to account for what he did,” Detective Chief Inspector Jamie Danies, an investigating officer told Birmingham mail.
“If anybody has any information about his whereabouts then I would urge you to please contact the police,” he said..
