Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC) Appoints Obafemi Otudeko, Honeywell Group MD, As Global Advisory Member

The Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC), a not-for-profit commercial organisation, has appointed Obafemi Otudeko, Managing Director of Honeywell Group (HGL), as a member of its Global Advisory Council. This was announced by CWEIC in a statement released on Thursday, October 13, 2022. Honeywell Group was also reported to have joined the council as a strategic partner.

“I have great pleasure in welcoming Honeywell Group as a Strategic Partner of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC). It is an honour to welcome you to the CWEIC network. I am also delighted to welcome you [Obafemi Otudeko] to our Global Advisory Council.” CWEIC’s Chairman, Lord Marland of Odstock, stated.

Obafemi Otudeko serves as the Managing Director of Honeywell Group, a leading investment holding company with investments across major sectors of the Nigerian economy; energy, technology, manufacturing, foods, real estate, infrastructure, and financial services. He is responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight to the Group’s portfolio companies and investments.

He joined the company in 2003 as Senior Manager, Projects (Oil and Gas), and in his nearly twenty-year career at the Group, has led several key initiatives including chairing the IPO committee responsible for the successful capital market listing and capital raising for the Group’s former flour milling investment. He also coordinated the Group’s efforts in the completion, capital raising, and opening of the five-star Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Prior to joining Honeywell Group, Obafemi began his professional training at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where he led and managed assignments providing assurance, risk management, internal audit, and business advisory services for clients across various sectors, before specialising in financial services.

As a member of CWEIC’s Global Advisory Council, Obafemi Otudeko will engage with C-suite business leaders and government decision-makers through a network of almost 100 businesses and governments at CWEIC’s events, industry-focused webinars, and international delegations.

Speaking on the announcement, Obafemi Otudeko, said, “We have a history of establishing impactful cross-sector partnerships that create valuable opportunities and drive sustainable growth in Africa and beyond. We are excited about our partnership with CWEIC as this will enable us to engage with a more extensive network of international partners focused on establishing growth-driven enterprises across the Commonwealth.”

Through strategic and timely investments and strong performance management practices, HGL continues to build upon its assets and has created a substantial portfolio of companies.

CWEIC is a not-for-profit commercial organisation with a mandate from Commonwealth Heads to facilitate trade and investment throughout the Commonwealth Nations. It boasts almost 100 business and government strategic partners from 30 countries and territories. Partners include multinationals (Standard Chartered, Afreximbank), sub-sovereign governments (Government of Jersey, Government of Queensland, and City of London), and countries (Cameroon, Bangladesh, the Maldives, Malta, UK), among others.
