Collapsed Markurdi – Lafia – Abuja road reconstruced
September 7, 2017
A portion of the Makurdi – Lafia – Abuja road which was recently destroyed by heavy rain in Benue State has been reinstated by Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA).
The portion of the destroyed highway was at Yelwata settlement in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
It was cut in half by the heavy rain, with FERMA being alerted to the damaged road by Nasarawa’s Commissioner for Works, Wada Yahaya Mohammed.
As a result, Nasarawa State Engineers and TRIACTA contractors moved to the site on September 4 to reconstruct the road on FERMA directives.
Also recall that a flood recently ravaged Benue which led to the displacement of over 100,000 people and the destruction of 2,500 houses.
