Chinese policeman uses body to stop bomb, faces permanent disability

Wu Jun, a policeman in Xishui county in central China, had responded to a call that a man was throwing explosives from his house in Baota village.

Wu rushed to the scene and met the villager attempting to attacking the police with homemade bombs.

“The man’s body was wrapped in circles of wire, ending in a bomb’s fuse. The homemade bomb was hanging in from of his chest. Inside the house was his sick mother,” People’s Daily online reports.

The man reportedly became more and more agitated as the confrontation went on. He then lit the bomb’s fuse as police tried to break down the back door of his house.

“Wu covered the fuse with his chest and attempted to extinguish it at the same time, the man tried to stop Wu with a knife.

The bomb finally exploded leaving Wu with serious injuries.

Wu is now contending with permanent disability and disfigurement, his doctor said.

But the man and his mother were saved.

Wu remains in intensive care, concealed even from his parents..
