Child Abuse: Woman allegedly pours boiling rice on 12-year-old maid’s body
An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Thursday arraigned a woman for allegedly pouring hot rice on her housemaid.
The woman, identified as Onyinye Maduka, allegedly rained hot grains of hot rice on the 12-year-old maid.
Maduka, who had accused the maid of stealing, left severe injury on the girl’s body.
The incident reportedly occurred on February 12 at the 33-year-old housewife’s residence at No. 9, Ayetoro St., Bariga, Lagos.
Maduka is facing a two-count charge bordering on assault, NAN reports.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, said the offences contravened Sections 170 and 171 of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Akanni, granted the Maduka N50,000 bail with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case to March 15 for mention.
