Chelsea hold Man Utd to 1-1 draw in Premier League clash
Chelsea denied Manchester United a win in their English Premier League clash at Old Trafford, ending 1-1.
A Bruno Fernandes goal from the spot was cancelled out by Moses Caicedo minutes later for the share of the spoils on Sunday evening.
Both sides deserved the win, with the game producing action at both ends in an end-to-end fashion.
The Blues began the game well, dominated the early exchanges but couldn’t make the right decisions in the final third.
Madueke came close to giving Chelsea a first-half lead, connecting to Palmer’s in-swinger from a corner, but his header came off the upright, a relief for United.
The first half ended goalless with both sides going into the break on parity.
The second half began much like the first, lacking any clear-cut chances.
The game soon opened up when, in the 69th minute, Robert Sanchez, in goal for Chelsea, brought down the rampaging Hojlund for a Manchester United penalty.
Bruno Fernandes duly converted the spot kick to give United the lead.
The lead was, however, cut short 4 minutes later when a corner kick eventually found its way to Ciacedo, who struck a beautiful low shot to beat Onana from just outside the penalty area.
With both sides on par again, the game continued to flow, with dribbles and drives, Cole Palmer at the heart of it all for Chelsea, drawing numerous fouls from United players.
Lisandro Martinez was lucky to have avoided a red card when he stamped his studs on Palmer in added time of the second 45, Referee Robert Jones only brandishing a yellow card.
The game ended all square, both sides worthy of the win, but settling for a draw.
