Carjacker nabbed, beaten while trying to escape with 11-month-old baby in Lagos

A man landed in serious trouble early Monday morning when he was caught trying to abduct 11-month-old baby and her grandmother from a car.

An eyewitness, Adebowale Olayinka, said that the car was parked along Gbagada road by the woman to buy foodstuffs, leaving her mother (the grandma) with her baby in the car.

The woman left the engine running and the suspect saw it as an opportunity to strike.

He reportedly drove off in the car with the baby after kicking the grandmother out of the car.

“Fortunately a soldier was passing by, immediately he took a bike to run after him, this led to multiple accidents on the road and the car stopped working and kidnapper decided to lock himself and the baby inside the car in the middle of expressway but area boys came to rescue of the baby,” Olayinka said.

The suspect had been taken to Pedro police station in Somolu.
