Buhari finally reacts to Yobe students’ disappearance, deploys military to school

President Buhari has finally reacted to the news of missing students of Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State.

The school was recently attacked by Boko Haram insurgents and there are fears the terrorists may have taken the girls – over 70 of them – away.

Buhari has directed the military and other security agencies to take “immediate” charge of the situation.

He also sent a government delegation, led by Mansur Dan-Ali, minister of defence, to the town.

Lai Mohammed, minister of information, disclosed this to state house correspondents on Wednesday.

“Mr President has directed military and other security agencies to take immediate charge and control Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi, and informed him of developments,” Mohammed told journalists.

“He has released a delegation led by the minister of defence to Dapchi, to get first-hand information as to what is happening tomorrow morning (Thursday).”

Mohammed, however, didn’t say whether there were other development apart from a total of 48 students which the state government said have returned.

“That is precisely why Mr President is in direct contact with military and police and as soon as we get any information, we will let you know,” the minister said.
