Osun Governorship Election: Adeleke Wins 19 LGAs as APC’s Oyebamiji Takes 11

Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has won 19 of the 30 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Saturday’s Osun State governorship election, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, secured victory in 11 LGAs.

The final outcome was awaiting the formal declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as collation of results continued at the state collation centre in Osogbo on Sunday.

A total of 15 political parties contested the election, although the race was largely dominated by Adeleke’s Accord Party and the APC.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, finished a distant third with 14,989 votes.

The state Returning Officer, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, was expected to announce the final result after the completion of the collation exercise.

The results show a closely fought contest in several LGAs, with both leading candidates recording significant victories across different parts of the state.

Adeleke posted particularly strong performances in Ede North, Ede South, Osogbo, Ife East and Iwo, while Oyebamiji recorded notable wins in Irewole, Boripe, Olorunda, Ilesa East and Obokun.

The official winner of the election will be confirmed by INEC following the conclusion of the state-level collation and the Returning Officer’s formal declaration.
