Bring Bello Turji to me dead or alive - Defence Minister orders troops

Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Mohammad Badaru, has challenged troops of Operation Fansar Yamma to ensure the arrest of the notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji.

Turji has been declared wanted by the Nigerian military over his alleged involvement in kidnapping, killings and destruction of villages in the North-West region.

The bandit leader is believed to have led his gang on numerous operations in the region, leading to the death of residents, especially in Zamfara and Sokoto States.

Following the ongoing intensive onslaught against bandits wreaking havoc in the North-West, troops eliminated a notorious bandit, Kachallah Bazu, widely regarded as the boss of Turji.

But Turji has continued to operate while boasting in social media videos about his purported invincibility.

Addressing troops at the One Brigade Headquarters in Gusau, Zamfara State on Thursday, the Minister urged them to arrest the wanted bandit.

Badaru stated that his visit was intended to receive updates on military operations. He said President Bola Tinubu has been keeping tabs on the activities of the troops in recent months and noting improvements in counter-terrorism campaigns, though challenges persist.

“He, therefore, urged me to thank you and to urge you to do more to end insecurity in these areas of operation and the country,” Badaru said.

The minister was received by Oluyinka Soyele, theatre commander of Operation Fansar Yamma, along with Mani Mumuni, deputy governor of Zamfara state, and other dignitaries.
