Boko Haram raid village in Borno state Killing at least 6 people
Casualties including at least six persons were killed when Boko Haram jihadists raided a village in North-east Nigeria, burning houses and looting food supplies, a local military leader and residents said on Sunday.
The Boko Haram militants arrived in their trucks at Mairari village, 10 kilometres (six miles) from the garrison town of Monguno in Borno State, on Saturday evening, firing guns and rocket-propelled grenades.
Babakura Kolo told AFP,” that in confusion, the Boko Haram men seized six men and slaughtered them, the bodies were found yesterday morning when residents returned to the burnt village”.
A resident of that village, Aisami Grema, gave a similar death toll, adding that the police in that village did nothing to repel the Islamists.
Another resident Masida Umar said, the militant ransacked the village for two hours before leaving. Four farmers were also killed when Boko Haram raided crop-field on Friday in Maiduguri.
