Bloodshed continues as bandits open fire on miners, kill 26 in Zamfara
Another bloodshed in the northern region of the country has been recorded after armed bandits gruesomely murdered at least twenty-six persons in two villages in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Thursday.
NAN reports that armed bandits attacked a mining site at Kuru-kuru village and also ambushed some people from the neighbouring Jarkuka village.
The bandits were said to have opened fire on the miners, while the villagers from Jarkuka village who rushed to help their injured neighbors, were also gunned down by the bandits.
A witness, Sadi Musa, was quoted as saying that scores of people were killed at the mining site.
The state Police spokesperson, DSP Mohammed Shehu, confirmed the incident and said efforts are being made to track down the bandits.
