Benue: NUJ chair, one other injured as car rams into Governor Ortom’s convoy

A yet to be identified person sustained head injuries after a commercial vehicle rammed into Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom’s convoy on Tuesday.

A top Nigerian journalist was also hurt in the crash.

The governor was, however, unhurt, spokesperson Terver Akase said.

Ortom was returning from Zaki Biam, where he had gone to carry out an assessment of the attack by gunmen on International Yam Market, when the “accident” occurred.

Akase said the accident occurred about 4:30pm between Abakwa and Adi in Buruku Local Government Area.

An oncoming vehicle left its lane and hit the Nigeria Union of Journalists’ bus which was on Governor Ortom’s convoy.
