BAUCHI: Woman, 20, dumps day-old baby inside well after being impregnated by biological father
Police in Bauchi were able to rescue a baby whom was thrown to die in a well by her 20-year-old mother.
20-year-old Dije Abdulkadir’s reason for wanting to see the end of the baby was because her biological father was responsible for the pregnancy.
The man, identified as Abdulkadir Mohammed, reportedly slept with his daughter Dije, and when the baby girl arrived, they both decided to do away with her.
Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Garba Umar said residents in the area successfully rescued the baby from the well.
Umar said, “The suspect gave birth to a baby girl and threw her inside the well with the intent to kill her. However, the timely intervention of well-meaning individuals in the area, who helped and rescued the baby alive, saved her life.
“The suspect confessed that her biological father impregnated her and they decided to do away with the baby. The suspects confessed to the act and were charged to court.”
