“My bathing soap’s made in Ile Ife, Igbo boys love me,” Ooni Ogunwusi says
The new Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, said he now baths with locally made soap. He said it’s one of the ways he’s leading by example.
And that is a few of the revelations the Ooni made during a live interview with TVC News in Ile Ife, Osun State, on Tuesday.
He said his birth date was exactly predicted.
He was asked about his master plan for Ile-Ife…and he said these.
“We are SET,” he said.
As in…
S – Socially set
E – Economically set
T – Traditionally set
Social
A lot of things that were hidden are now being known because of the power of social media. We are going to showcase our culture to the world through this platform.
Economy
Alaba Igbos are excited that I am now the Ooni because they know me. They know what I stand for. That I will speak for locally made goods. Even my bathing soup is made is Ile-Ife. My chair was made at one of my factories in Lagos and will be brought to Ile-Ife. At least 60% of what I’m wearing right now were made in Nigeria.
Tradition
Some were afraid the emergence of a young Ooni would be the death of tradition but that will not be so. I am the chief marketing officer of our tradition. I’m also a tourism expert. The tourist centers I’ve been part of are not 100% perfect. But they are 100% Nigerian. We will bring out the tourism potentials of Ile-Ife.
Other things the Ooni said
There is no boss anywhere. I am not any body’s oga. We are all bosses. Only God is the boss.
Ile Ife doesn’t mean ‘the land or house of Ife.’ It means a vast land.
This guy…oops! Sorry! THIS OONI IS COOL!.
