Bank cashier, wife, mother-in-law allegedly steal N2.4m in Ekiti
A bank cashier, his wife, and mother-in-law are facing charges for allegedly stealing N2.4 million from a Sterling Bank branch in Ado-Ekiti.
The suspect, Ebenezer Adeolu Alonge allegedly connived with his wife Isakunle Olamide Oyinlola and his mother-in-law, Isakunle Eunice Moradeke, to commit the crime between January and March 2017.
The Ekiti State High Court, Ado-Ekiti, heard on Wednesday that Alonge diverting the sum meant for Ekiti State Primary and Secondary Education Development levy into the accomplices’ accounts.
They all entered a “not guilty” plea to a 12-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The judge, Justice Lekan Ogunmoye granted each of them N2 million bail with two sureties in like sum. Ogunmoye stated that one of the surety must be a government official not below grade level 12 while the other surety must be resident within jurisdiction.
He adjourned trial to February 5, 2019.
