Babachir Lawal: Dear Yemi Osinbajo, where’s the report on that “corrupt” grass-cutter?

Let’s get this straight. A top public official may have stolen over N200 million and lied about using it to cut grass while internally displaced persons suffer rape and starvation.

This is happening under the administration of a self-righteous man who wants to “be remembered as the man who fought corruption to standstill”.

To “save the day”, the Presidency suspended the official, SGF Babachir Lawal, and constituted a committee to investigate him.

The committee is chaired by Vice (now Acting) President Yemi Osinbajo who must report his findings to President Muhammadu Buhari on May 8.

Today is May 22, and we don’t know what have happened to that report on Babachir Lawal.

Why?

Buhari is in hospital in London? But isn’t the fullness of the powers of the President vested in the Acting President? Why can’t Osinbajo reveal the report to Nigerians and take necessary steps.

This, perhaps, is why Buhari must resign now. Nigeria has suffered too much to be held back by because a sickly 74-year-old, or those benefiting from his being in power, thinks the world revolves around him.

Buhari is a lame duck at the moment. So is Osinbajo. Something must give.

Where is the report on Babachir Lawal?
