Atiku Abubakar Meets Rauf Aregbesola in Osun Amid Rising Opposition Coalition Talks

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar made a high-profile visit to the residence of Rauf Aregbesola, the former governor of Osun State, on Friday, sparking renewed speculation about opposition realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a video shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Abubakar is seen arriving at Aregbesola’s home, where the two political heavyweights exchanged warm greetings before heading inside, flanked by a handful of their loyal supporters. The post was casually captioned: “Breakfast time at the residence of former Governor of Osun State, Engr Rauf Aregbesola.”

The visit is especially significant given Aregbesola’s recent expulsion from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun over alleged anti-party activities—a development that has placed him at the center of speculated political recalibrations.

Abubakar’s stop in Osun followed his earlier engagement in Akure, Ondo State, where he attended the coronation of Clement Adesuyi, the newly installed paramount ruler of Ijesaland.
