ASUU insists FG must pay N50bn before strike is called off

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU have tabled down their conditions once again as the Federal Government continues to engage with them to put an end to the ongoing strike.

In their latest submission, ASUU insist that the government must pay N50 billion as a sign of commitment before they suspend the strike

The union rejected the N20 billion instalment that was proposed by the government.

“Our members have insisted on the release of at least N50 billion in relation to earned academic allowances which the government has an outstanding of N105 billion,”ASUU President, Biodun Ogunyemi disclosed.

ASUU has been on strike for more than three months now with no end in sight. The government has been going back and forth with them, but it seems like neither party wants to reach a compromise.
