Why Asari Dokubo will never support APC
Asari Dokubo, leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Salvation Force (NDPSF), has reiterated that All Progressives Congress (APC) should stop dragging the name of the region in the mud.
He maintained that the ex-militants who supported the APC and its candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, during and after the 2015 elections are not slaves.
Rather, Dokubo believes what they did was a show of unfettered patriotism, solidarity and love to a nation above self-serving and myopic interests.
But going by a turn of events since Buhari became president, it is likely Dokubo will not support APC in 2019 and here are the reasons. due to the fact that the government of the day has not given much attention to the agitations of the Niger Delta.
Dialogue
The interest of the region was not favourably considered by the APC-led administration.
And Dokubo has reiterated his stand over the issue of Niger Delta, claiming that they are open to dialogue and not calling for war.
Selfish interest
It seems people of Niger Delta are aware that of the mischief and antics of those using the platform for self aggrandisement, pointing out that such people would end with the era of president Goodluck Jonathan‘s administration.
Biafra
Recently, Dokubo spoke on former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, whom he described as a thief who was used by people around her to enrich themselves.
He went on to call Buhari a photo president, adding people have to rise up and know who they are.
Dokubo then stated that the only true freedom can come when Biafra is given independence.
For these reasons, the outspoken Dokubo would rather leave Nigeria and become part of Biafra than to continue with Nigeria as it is
