Arsenal wasted no time in getting down to business in the early exchanges, with in-form defender, William Saliba, breaking the deadlock as early as the 9th minute of the game.
Lyon looked rattled as the Gunners went on endless sequences of attacks in an onslaught on the Lyon goal. The pressure soon paid off as the rejuvenated Brazilian forward, Gabriel Jesus, scored the game’s second in the 27th minute.
Lyon were lucky not to go behind for a third time in the first half as Arsenal were guilty of missing several chances.
The second 45 started more or the same, with Arsenal on the strong foot, giving Lyon no time to breathe. The Ligue 1 side could muster only 2shots on target as the Premier League outfits were, again, guilty of missing chances.

The second half surprisingly produced no goals, with Arsenal running away with a 2-0 lead.
The win follows a string of fine results by Mikel Arteta’s side after seeing off Manchester United, Bournemouth and a host of others, with the only blemish coming in a 2-1 loss to Liverpool earlier.
