Armed bandits storm Kogi police station, kill officers and cart away guns
A police station at Gegu area of Kogi State, on Tuesday, was invaded by unknown gunmen numbering five.
Two police officers and a detained suspect were killed during the invasion.
It was gathered that the gunmen were armed with AK- 47 rifles and invaded the police station around 2.15am on motorcycles.
A source disclosed that on their arrival, they scared people away by opening fire and went straight to the police station to shoot the policemen on duty.
The gunmen were also said to have ransacked the station as they carted away guns and ammunition.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Kogi State Police Commander, William Ayah confirmed the death of two policemen during the attack.
He said, “The command has commenced investigation into the attack.”
