APC Blames Governor Fubara for Rivers’s unstability and State of Emergency

In the wake of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has placed the blame squarely on Governor Siminalayi Fubara, accusing him of orchestrating the political turmoil that led to the drastic measure.

In a strongly worded statement on Tuesday night, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, condemned Fubara’s actions, asserting that the governor “destroyed the very foundation of democracy” by demolishing the Rivers State House of Assembly.

“When he brazenly demolished the Rivers State House of Assembly, Fubara destroyed the very foundation of democracy in the state,” the statement read.

The party further alleged that Fubara’s decision to govern without a functioning legislature effectively ended governance in the state, adding that his expenditure of state funds without proper legislative approval undermined his own constitutional authority.

The APC maintained that a government cannot function without all three arms—executive, legislature, and judiciary—operating in harmony.

“As the Supreme Court confirmed, there was no government in the state, and there had not been a government since Fubara destroyed the state legislature,” Morka stated. “By his reckless actions, Fubara asked for and set the stage for this outcome.”

Defending President Tinubu’s decision, Morka described the emergency declaration as a constitutionally-backed move aimed at safeguarding lives and restoring governance in the troubled state.

“The safety and well-being of the people are paramount at this time and must trump all political considerations,” the APC spokesperson said, commending Tinubu for what he called a decisive effort to prevent a complete breakdown of law and order.
