“Anybody with evidence of corruption against me should come forward” – Atiku
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, during his trip to Ekiti State on Tuesday to consult with Governor Ayo Fayose on his presidential ambition, maintained that there is no corruption label on him.
Atiku was, sometime in 2006, investigated by a Senate committee headed by Victor Ndoma-Egba, for allegedly helping himself with funds belonging to the Petroleum Training Development Fund (PTDF).
He has severally dismissed the outcome of the investigation as a witch-hunt by then President Olusegun Obasanjo, following their rift.
He said on Tuesday, “I have always said that if they have any evidence of corruption against Atiku, please come forward. But nobody has been able to come forward.”
Atiku asked for the people’s support in the forthcoming election, saying that he has “the programme that will best develop this country.”
He is one of many politicians jostling for PDP’s sole presidential ticket.
