The Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has visited the site of the school building that collapsed earlier today.
The three-storey building collapsed against pupils who are still trapped inside the rubble.
Ambode expressed sadness over the incident and vowed that the government will begin demolishing buildings that fail integrity test in the area.
“The most important thing now is to save more lives before we talk about dealing with the culprit,” he said.
Emergency rescue operatives are still working on the site to rescue the remaining victims.
Some of the victims that have been pulled out of the rubble have been hospitalized, while many others are still trapped inside.
There are no official figures on the number of casualties in the incident.
