Ambode bans VIO from Lagos roads
Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) have reportedly been ordered to vacate Lagos roads by the state government.
Reports say the directive was given by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode after several complaints by the public against the vehicle inspectors.
PM News gathers that since last week, the VIOs, under the Vehicle Inspection Service, VIS, had left all Lagos roads on the governor’s order.
Reports say that Ambode had ordered the road officers to go on compulsory retraining on the use of modern technology in order to be humane in dealing with the public.
The officers have been severally accused by road users of their rather rude and unprofessional approach in carrying out their duties.
Road users also complain that there are too many officers from different forces who are claiming responsibility for checking vehicular papers on Nigerian roads.
