“Ambode, APC, killed my son” – Father of 8-day-old baby who died in Lagos traffic alleges

A man has blamed Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for causing the death of his eight-day-old baby on Wednesday.

According to the distraught father, mother and child were stuck in a traffic gridlock due to the closure of Acme Road, in the Ogba area of Lagos.

“@AkinwunmiAmbode @APCNigeria thanks to you guys today for the roads you blocked without prior notice. My 8day old baby boy died in traffic,” he said in a tweet.

“@AkinwunmiAmbode @APCNigeria my boy died in traffic on the way to the hospital. The day after his naming ceremony,” he said in another tweet.

The gridlock, Newsroom gathered, had occurred due to a meeting of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) whose secretariat is located on the road.

Reports say a LASTMA van was used to block the road to vehicular movements at the traffic light junction.

Vehicular movements were reportedly slow as a result, and motorists who tried to navigate an alternative route found out a portion of the newly constructed Berger road was closed to traffic.

Many vehicles reportedly broke down in the traffic gridlock as a result of intense heat.

It is still unclear where the baby and his mother were headed.

Newsroom Nigeria reached out to the baby’s father for further comments, but he has yet to return our message at the time of filing this report.
