Why are you silent despite economic hardship? Amaechi challenges Nigerians
Rotimi Amaechi, a former Minister of Transportation, has voiced his disappointment over Nigerians’ response to the country’s prevalent economic hardship, stating that he had expected more visible reactions from citizens, particularly the youth.
Amaechi made this known in a recent interview with ABN TV, where he lamented the high cost of living, rising fuel prices, and other economic pressures.
The former Rivers State Governor said he was taken aback by the calmness with which Nigerians have reacted to the hardship.
“I expected more agitation, especially from the youth.
“I thought we would see protests in the streets, but it seems people are not expressing the kind of anger I expected,” remarked the former governor of Rivers State.

Amaechi not happy about the state of the nation
Amaechi, who served as Transportation Minister for nearly eight years under the Muhammadu Buhari administration, has always expressed his concerns regarding the current state of the economy.
He noted that the public has shown no significant resistance despite ballooning inflation and skyrocketing costs of living.
“You cannot have a situation where a group of people are mismanaging resources and expect citizens to remain silent. I am truly baffled by the lack of action,” he stated.
Citing the Edo State election as an example, Amaechi questioned whether politicians should campaign at all, given the state of the economy.
“The price of diesel is at an all-time high, and even some of us are finding it difficult to afford. Yet, the general public seems unmoved,” he added.
