In Pictures: Alex Otti Commissioned 14 Roads in One Day
Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, on Monday commissioned 14 roads in a single sweep—signaling what he called “a celebration of new epoch” in the state’s infrastructural journey.
The Governor’s tour across Aba was not merely administrative—it was symbolic. From the once-derelict Umuode and Bakassi roads to the arterial Enyimba Junction–Ariaria Gate stretch, Otti declared that these rehabilitated routes mark a turning point in the city’s story.

“We have gathered together in celebration, not of roads, but of new epoch… the real accomplishments should be seen in terms of the hopes that have been restored, dreams we have revived,” he said.
The event, laced with fanfare and heavy political undertones, also drew support from the Abia Assembly Speaker and Aba South Mayor, who hinted Otti’s work might make re-election a walkover.

“He needs not to campaign in Aba,” said Speaker Emmanuel Emeruwa.
Architect Uche Ukeje of GADA said many of the roads had lost economic utility prior to intervention. Now, commerce is returning, property values are up, and movement across Aba’s markets has been eased.
The Governor also promised to resolve a water challenge at St. Joseph’s College and urged residents to protect public infrastructure.

The commissioning is the first batch of 55 projects earmarked for rollout—a pace that suggests more than roads are being paved. A political path is clearly being drawn.
