AI can’t teach us values; it can only amplify the ones we already have-by Hammed Adebiyi
In Africa, our stories carry depth, emotion, and truth and we must ensure technology doesn’t silence the human soul in narratives. AI can’t teach us values; it can only amplify the ones we already have.
AI must serve humanity and not efficiency alone, in Africa it must not be a copy-paste of the realities of the Western frameworks, but one grounded in community values, accountability and inclusion.
AI is here to stay, and I believe it will help us better work effectively : collaboration not competition. As such, it needs to be used responsibly by ensuring we don’t neglect our human ability to think critically.
Africa’s media landscape is growing but deeply intuitive, therefore ethics must be contextual, not theoretical ensuring localization.
It’s our responsibility as Africans not just to catch up with AI but to teach it what it means to be human , technology is as ethical as the hands that wield it.
We must know and consistently remind ourselves that its but a tool to enhance our brain work
