It’s one of the stories we hope turn false. We hope.
But reports say 28-year-old Baba Ahmed has sealed the fate of an innocent girl in “holy” wedlock.
The 10-year-old baby (she’s still a baby for crying out loud!) was handed over to Ahmed over the weekend at ceremony in Kano State of Nigeria, reports say.
Yes, her parents reportedly gave her out in marriage.
But she won’t be moving into his house until she turns 17. That would be in 2023 when Ahmed would be 35.
In sane societies, 17-year-olds go to college…not to their “husband’s” house.
We hope the story’s not true. We hope.
If this reported marriage happens to be true, it wouldn’t be a violation of Nigerian law anyways.
Perhaps that the saddest part of the whole thing.
