AFCON 2019 Qualifier: ‘We are not afraid of Nigeria’ – Seychelles coach Gavin Jeanne

Seychelles coach Gavin Jeanne says they are not scared of playing West African football powerhouse Nigeria as “The Pirates” aim to qualify for their first African Cup of nation’s tournament.
The game will be the second in the series of matches to be played ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Cameroon from June 7-30, 2019.
The Super Eagles will be guests to the pirates at the Stade Linete stadium in Victoria by 1:30 pm Nigerian time on Saturday and Coach Gavin Jeanne believes that they are going into the game to enjoy the experience. He said “Why should we be intimidated by them? We have nothing to lose in that game, the stress should be on them not to lose against Seychelles. For us, we are excited not intimidated. For us, Nigeria is the biggest football playing nation in Africa and we are looking forward to face them.
We want to have fun in the game and hopefully get some points but if we don’t, it will be a massive experience for the players and the country”.
Nigeria is currently third on the qualifying table in group E after losing her first match two nil to the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on June 10, 2017, at the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo with Libya topping the group on superior goal difference after their 5 – 1 demolition of Seychelles, South Africa is second.
The Super Eagles will be without some key players including Captain John Mikel Obi, Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi and Chelsea star Victor Moses who recently called time on his national team career.
