6 killed in suicide bombing attacks in Maiduguri

Suicide bomber kills two in Maiduguri.

Another suicide bomb attack early Wednesday morning in Maiduguri has left six persons dead, NEMA confirms.

Four female suicide bombers, believed to be teenagers, were said to have detonated their explosive devices at Usmanti along Muna Garage axis, Maiduguri, Borno State.

Two men were killed in the attacks which were carried out at about 1.15 am, and sixteen others suffered varying degrees of injuries.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) North-East zone spokesperson, Mallam Abdulkareem Ibrahim said rescue operations had been carried out in the area.

“Four female teenage suicide bombers and two other men died (6 people) when the four females detonated explosives at Usmanti along Mina Garage road at about 1.15 am,” Ibrahim said in a statement.

“Sixteen people who got injured were administered with first aid by rescue workers before being transported to the State Specialist Hospital and University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital in Maiduguri Borno state.”

The attacks were carried out close to the Police Hospital in Maiduguri.

The two men killed were said to have opened their doors for the female bombers who knocked on doors to perpetuate the crime.
