A 33-year-old man, Luke Chidozie, has been remanded by the Karu magistrates court in Abuja on Wednesday for allegedly defrauding a client of N250,000.

The prosecutor, Vincent Osuji, told the court that one Uche Anugwa of Mararaba,in Nasarawa State, reported the matter at the Karu Police Station in Abuja, on May 3, at 11am.

“The complainant alleged that sometime in June 2017, the defendant defrauded him of the sum of N250,000 under a false pretence of assisting him to procure a Russian visa.

“After entrusting the said money to him, the defendant failed to procure the visa as agreed and converted the money into his personal use.

“In the course of police investigation, the defendant was released on police administrative bail with an instruction to report back to the police station for further necessary action.

“The defendant, however, failed to report as instructed until June 11, 2018, when he was tracked and rearrested,” Osuji said.
