3 arrested after 6-man gang attacks farmer, 75, kills son in Katsina

A gang of armed robbers were, on Tuesday, paraded for attacking a 75-year-old farmer, Abdulkadir Mikka, and shooting one of his children to death.

The Katsina State Police Command paraded three members of the robbery syndicate, who have since confessed to the crime.

The suspects, namely: Sani Zubairu, 38; Ma’aruf Lawal, 23; and Ibrahim Hassan, 23, were said to have attacked the farmer and killed his son in Burma village in the Funtua Local Government Area of the state.

Muhammed Wakili, the state Commissioner of Police said the suspects had confessed to the crime while the police were making further efforts to arrest other fleeing members of the gang.

Wakili said, “On February 9, at about 5.30pm, the police arrested a notorious syndicate of armed robbery and kidnapping suspects.

“The suspects, armed with AK-47 rifles, attacked the house of one Alhaji Abdulkadir Mikka and shot his son, Rabiu Abdulkadir, to death.

“The suspects have confessed to the crime while effort is ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate. Investigation into this case is still ongoing.”
