2019 Election: Buhari, Atiku, others to sign undertaking on peaceful poll
All presidential candidates will be tasked to ensure a smooth and peaceful election in two months’ time by signing the Peace Accord.
The arrangement for the undertaking has been put in place by the National Peace Committee headed by Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, a former Military Head of State.
President Buhari, Atiku Abubakar, Donald Duke, Oby Ezekwesili, Fela Durotoye and other candidates are expected to sign the undertaking at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, Tuesday afternoon.
All candidates, NAN reports, are also expected to avoid hate speech, fake news or any act capable of causing socio-political unrest in the country.
Other presidential candidates expected to sign the peace agreement include: Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim (ANN), Omoyele Sowore (AAC), Dr Obadiah Mailafia (ADC), Kingsley Moghalu (YPP), Pastor Chris Okotie (FDP), retired Major Hamza Al-Mustapha (PPN), Habib Gajo (YDP), retired Maj- Gen. John Gbor (APGA), Ali Soyode (YES Party), and Dr Davidson Akhimien (GDPN).
There have been concerns in some quarters that some parts of the country may experience violence during the February 2019 poll.
