Confirmed 2019 Election Result: Buhari, Atiku split Oyo as Presidential race gets intense
There was little to separate President Muhammadu Buhari and fierce opposition Atiku Abubakar in the presidential poll in Oyo State on Saturday.
Atiku slightly edged Buhari in the APC state with 366,690 votes to the president’s 365,229. It indicates a less than 2,000 difference in votes.
The total number of registered voters in the state is 2,796,542 while a total of 905,007 voters were accredited.
Total number of votes cast is 891,080 while 836,531 votes were valid. A total number of 54,549 votes were rejected.
The result in Oyo is largely believed to be as a result of governor Abiola Ajimobi’s unpopular administration.
The hard-fought victory gives Atiku his seventh state out of 17 states (including the FCT) that have so far been announced.
The collation of election results is currently ongoing in Abuja.
