16-year-old girl fakes pregnancy, steals baby
Alinafe Tembo, who reportedly disguised as a pregnant woman, faces a maximum of 7 years in prison as she faces a charge of child stealing.
The 16-year-old was arrested for allegedly stealing a four-month-old baby belonging to one Mary Musa, 22, in a district in Malawi.
“On 11th January, 2016 the suspect at around 3:00pm, found the complainant at her business place where she sells doughnuts,” a police spokesman said.
“The suspect bought two doughuts and they started chatting. Looking at how they had conversed, the complainant took the suspect to her house where they continued chatting.”
Afterwards, Mary reportedly left her baby with Tembo while she rushed to a maize mill.
By the time she returned, Tembo had made away with the baby.
Tembo is billed to appear in court soon..
