10 reasons why Nigerians cannot do without the social media

1. Gossip: Nigerians love to gossip,the social media has escalated the level of gossip in Nigeria.

The way people quickly send gossip messages on whatsap,facebook is alarming.

2. Relationship: One cannot get a good relationship in Nigeria today without the social media.

3.The social media has brought the world closer.

4. Organization:The Internet is very good at remembering things.

Most Nigerians don’t plan nor keep diaries.

5. Facebook: Many Nigerians cannot do without Facebook for an hour
A few years ago, Nigerians see Facebook as a non-conformist, tree-hugger, many shunned the idea of creating a rudimentary web profile. Why be just like everyone else – a page with smiley pictures and lame posts concerning one’s daily life?

Facebook grew exponentially and quickly became a social media giant. Soon everyone I knew had one. Everyone I met had one. They would ask “what’s your facebook so I can add you?.” I’d chuckle and say “we’ll keep in touch.” But could we?

6. Google: hardly a day goes by without one referring to google.

How many Nigerians make use of dictionaries, business directories, address books?

7. Commerce: It’s the age of technology, of information, of convenience.(The Ubers)
People/government buy things just to make other things easier.

8.Communication:Civilization was raised off the interaction of human beings. Without communication there would be no society. The ways in which people communicate have changed over time, people hardly post letters in Nigeria and/or send fax messages.It happens on the social media;our technological advances have advanced in the speed and availability of communication. From this has come the world of social media.

9.Job opportunities: Hardly can one get a good job in Nigeria today without the social media

10. Business: it’s virtually impossible to run a legitimate and successful business in Nigeria without the social media.
