As Nigerian singer and EME first lady, Niyola celebrates another birthday, here are 10 quick facts you probably don’t know about her.

  1. She was born Eniola Akinbo on December 9, decades ago.
  2. She was born in Lagos but hails from Ilesha in Osun state.
  3. She is the last child of a family of 10.
  4. Her parents are conservative Christians.
  5. She got motivated to do music at the age of 8 after attending the concert of Funmi Adams with her dad who actually discovered her singing talent.
  6. In 2000, Niyola emerged runner-up at Starlet competition, an AMEN Awards pre-show. She once backed up for Baba Dee and Sound Sultan.
  7. Niyola also featured on Faze’s “All of my Life” off his debut album, Faze Alone.
  8. She was once signed to West Side Music led by Solomon Arueya.
  9. While she was rumoured to have dated former Trybesmen member, Freestyle, the singer has denied such allegations saying she was and still is friends with the “Sip Easy” rapper.
  10. In 2012, she joined Wizkid and Skales in Banky W’s EME. The label later dropped a compilation album, Empire States of Mates State of Mind.
