“Yahoo boy” requests for ladies’ nude photos, blackmails them for huge sum
A notorious “Yahoo boy”, identified as Michael Atanda, has been arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad for allegedly hiding under the identity of a London based Nigerian Segun Bayo to dupe unsuspecting victims.
Bayo allegedly woos ladies on Facebook, get them to expose their body parts, only to later threaten to expose them in exchange for money.
Another suspect, identified as Jaiye, met one Bunmi on Badoo social dating app and after few months, Bunmi confided in him after she thought of relocating to the USA.
Jaiye encouraged her to surrender N1.4million for visa and another N50,000 for passport processing. Till now, Jaiye has not turned in the passport or the visa for more than a year.
When questioned by the police, Jaiye said he had slept with Bunmi many times and revealed all he knew about her.
Police warn Nigerians to be wary of their social media dealings so as to avoid falling into the trap of fraudsters.
