Wike Blasts ADC Coalition: ‘What Did Tambuwal, Mark, Amaechi Do in Office?’

Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), has slammed key figures in the newly formed opposition coalition that adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform for the 2027 elections.

Reacting to the unveiling of former Senate President David Mark as interim national chairman of the ADC, Wike accused him of leaving no legacy in his hometown despite eight years in power.

“I heard David Mark say Nigerians are angry and that they want to rescue the country,” Wike said during a media parley on Thursday. “But he was the Senate president for eight years. Was there any project in Otukpo? Not one. He was flying there with helicopters. Were Nigerians not angry then?”

He dismissed Mark’s current relevance, noting that his daughter even ran for office under the All Progressives Congress (APC), not the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he once wielded influence.

Wike also targeted former transportation minister Rotimi Amaechi, blaming him for burdening the country with external debt.
“Amaechi took Chinese loans and buried Nigeria in debt. But they say Nigerians were happy then,” he said.

Taking a broader aim at other coalition members, including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Aminu Tambuwal, and Abubakar Malami, Wike criticised their performance while in office.

“Tambuwal was speaker for four years and governor for eight. What exactly did he do to reduce the anger of Nigerians?” Wike asked.
“I read what Malami wrote — it was shameful. What did he do to resolve the security challenges as AGF?”

He concluded that only a truly united PDP could pose a credible threat to the APC in 2027.
