Wife vows to poison jealous husband if court doesn’t separate them
Ronke Olanrewaju, a resident of Ibadan, Oyo State, told the Oja-Oba Customary Court on Tuesday that she will poison her husband if her wish for a divorce was not granted.
Ronke said her husband has been abusive and violent towards her, claiming that he was in the habit of beating her anytime he saw her with male customers.
She said anytime she reported the matter to the police, he was let go on the basis that he is a prominent politician.
”My lord, he also beats up my mother like a baby, separate us now or else, I will poison him. Each time I discuss business with male customers, he would beat me and say they are my lovers,” she was quoted as saying on Tuesday.
Sunday, Ronke’s husband, however, begged the court not to dissolve the marriage, describing his wife as being like his mother.
The court moved the case to September 18, 2018 for ruling. The judge said it is better to give room for reconciliation even though the woman threatened to poison her husband.
