Why Bauchi Governor, Bala Mohammed Dismissed Five Commissioners
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has dismissed five commissioners from his cabinet, a decision he says is critical for his leadership’s continued effectiveness and success.
According to Mukhtar Gidado, the governor’s media aide, the decision to let go of the five commissioners was not taken lightly. Governor Mohammed expressed his gratitude for their dedication and invaluable contributions to the development of the state during their tenure. The dismissed commissioners include Jamila Dahiru, who served as Commissioner for Education; Abubakar Bununu, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs; Usman Danturaki, the Commissioner for Information and Communication; Simon Yalams, the Commissioner for Agriculture; and Yakubu Hamza, the Commissioner for Religious Affairs and Societal Reorientation.
In his statement, Gidado explained that the governor’s action is part of a broader strategy to reinvigorate the state’s governance.
“In a strategic effort to reinvigorate governance and ensure optimal service delivery to the people of Bauchi State, the governor has approved the reconstitution of his cabinet,” he said. This reshuffling is seen as a routine administrative measure, designed to enhance the efficiency of the state government and ensure that the needs of the people are met with the urgency they deserve.
As part of the reshuffle, the governor has nominated eight new individuals to fill the vacant positions. These new commissioner-nominees, whose names have already been forwarded to the state house of assembly for approval, include Isa Tilde, Abdullahi Mohammed, Bala Lukshi, Usman Shehu, Iliyasu Gital, Titus Ketkukah, Adamu Gabarin, and Mohammed Lawal. These nominees are expected to bring new perspectives and expertise to the cabinet, aligning with the governor’s vision for dynamic leadership and effective governance.
