We thank Nigeria for donating $1m to Afghanistan – Organization of Islamic Cooperation

The Secretary-General of Organization of Islamic Cooperation, His Excellency Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha expressed his appreciation to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, praising its generous donation of one million US dollars in favor of the Humanitarian Trust Fund for Afghanistan.

The Secretary-General said that this donation comes at a favorable time to give impetus to the organization’s efforts to alleviate the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and help meet the needs of millions of Afghan people, including women and children.

The Secretary-General affirms that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation continues to be committed to its noble cause of supporting the Afghan people, and that it will spare no effort to fully implement the Special Resolution on Afghanistan, which was issued at the last special session of the Council of Foreign Ministers in Islamabad, Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

In this regard, the Organization invites all Member States and the various stakeholders and partners to join and contribute to the Humanitarian Trust Fund for Afghanistan through the bank account designated for it under the supervision of the Islamic Development Bank.
