WATCH: “Politicians are fond of lying” – Barack Obama takes dig at Trump
Barack Obama takes a dig at lying politicians at the 100th anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s birth in South Africa earlier this afternoon.
Obama, during his speech, talked about the “utter loss of shame among political leaders”, who when they’re caught lying, “just double down and lie some more”.
The former United States President may have been taking the dig at his successor, Donald Trump, who has been accused of misleading his supporters and shutting out credible news platforms as “fake news”.
Obama also encouraged South Africans to “keep believing. Keep marching. Keep building. Keep raising your voice.
“Every generation has the opportunity to remake the world. Mandela said, ‘Young people are capable when aroused of bringing down the towers of oppression and raising the banners of freedom’,” he said.
