A Nigerian father is in search of Fausat, his teenage daughter, who reportedly went missing after they had an altercation.

The unmarried 17-year-old girl, who grew up with her grandma in Akoka area of Lagos, got pregnant to someone her family was yet to identify. She relocated to her father’s Ikorodu home to deliver the baby for fear of shame in Akoka where she’s well known.

Anyone with information on Fausat’s whereabouts should call 112 or inform the nearest police station.

Fausat went missing after quarreling with her own dad some weeks ago, Nafisah Abdul – a journalist who is familiar with the case – told NewsroomNG on Friday.

“I met her after she returned to her grandma’s place,” Abdul told us.

“She came to me on Tuesday morning (January 31) after leaving her grandma’s place in Akoka. I learnt she only spent a night with her. I don’t know where she had been between that time and Tuesday morning.

“While I was making the effort, the girl told me she was going to her grandma’s place,” Abdul said.

“I have now been told that she’s not with the grandma. Her father also confirmed she’s not with him in Ikorodu. And the girl is not with me.

“We are looking for her,” Abdul said adding she will report the case to the police today.

“I fear she is afraid of the shame society attaches to cases like this,” she said. “We want to help her”.
