NDLEA seizes 184kg of cocaine from Lagos courier firm, arrests socialite KC Luxury
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced the seizure of 184.5 kilogrammes of cocaine from a courier company in Lagos, describing it as the largest cocaine seizure from a courier firm in the agency’s history.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd.), disclosed this during a press briefing in Lagos on Tuesday.
According to Marwa, two suspects were arrested in connection with the consignment. They are Afolabi Kazeem Micheal, popularly known as KC Luxury, and Lawal Kehinde, an employee of a logistics company.
The NDLEA chairman said the seized cocaine was valued at about $27.7 million, although the naira equivalent cited in the briefing was approximately N39 million.
Marwa explained that following the seizure, the agency collaborated with the management of the logistics company, leading to the identification and subsequent arrest of the two suspects.
He further disclosed that Nigeria was increasingly being used as a transit point for illicit drugs destined for the United Kingdom, other parts of Europe and Asia.
According to the NDLEA chairman, KC Luxury was arrested at the Lagos airport while allegedly attempting to leave the country.
The agency said the arrests and seizure formed part of its ongoing efforts to disrupt international drug trafficking networks operating through Nigeria.
