Vehicle kills boy, 13, scrambling for lawmaker’s money in Bauchi

A young boy, Bappah Adamu, was knocked down and killed by a vehicle while reportedly scrambling for naira notes thrown by a federal lawmaker near the Bauchi-Maiduguri highway on Saturday.

The incident reportedly occurred when the lawmaker, representing Ganjuwa/Darazo Federal Constituency in the House of Reps, Halliru Jika, was in the Konkiyel village to inspect a project.

Jika allegedly flung money into the air to the excitement of residents who scampered for their share.

Adamu, 13, was knocked down in process of trying to get his share of the money, a resident confirmed.

Jika has, however, said the incident was an isolated one, not related to his ‘philanthropic’ gesture.
