US Election: Trump declares himself winner, begins celebration ahead of announcement

With the conclusion of the US presidential election, Republican candidate, Donald Trump has declared himself winner of the polls after securing 267 electoral votes.

Trump declared his victory while addressing supporters in Florida. His bold declaration came after defeating his counterpart, Kamala Harris in two swing states.

The former Republican president won North Carolina and then the second swing state of Georgia pushing him ahead.

In light of the situation, Harris’ camp said the race was now “razor-thin” and that her “clearest path” to victory was to win the Blue Wall swing states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

As it stands, Trump has 267 electoral votes, while Harris has 194.

With 270 as the magic number to win the Presidency, it is difficult to see Harris make a comeback, as Trump just needs 3 more electoral votes to be officially declared president.

The Republican Party also seized control of the Senate, flipping two seats to outperform a narrow Democratic majority.
